OUR TEAM

Our professionals have specialized studies in competition and intellectual property law. In addition, members of our team have served as officers at the Peruvian competition and intellectual property agency, the telecommunications regulatory agency (OSIPTEL), the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the World Bank (WB), the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the Andean Court of Justice. We are actively involved in providing legal opinions to national and international corporations, as well as governmental and non-governmental organizations. We also are actively involved litigating in the most important antitrust (including leniency and compliance programs), unfair competition, bureaucratic barriers, dumping and subsidies cases in Peru and the Andean Community. Our practice also involves regulatory, advertising and marketing law, consumer protection, data privacy and life sciences. Finally, we have a strong practice in all fields of Intellectual Property law. At the academic level, our team have not only strong academic credentials, which include Master´s degrees in Peru, the United States and Europe, and are professors and lectures at Peruvian most prestigious universities such as the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP), the Universidad Nacional de San Marcos (UNMSM) and the Universidad del Pacífico (UP).

Studied to the Harvard Environmental Energy Program (HEEP) that was held in Cambridge, Massachusetts – USA in the classrooms of Harvard Kennedy School, sponsored by Harvard University. Member and President of the Administrative Bankruptcy Court in INDECOPI, the Peruvian competition agency. Also President of the Full Courtroom of that court. Before that, he was member of the Insolvency Procedures Commission. He is member of INSOL (International association of specialized professionals in turnaround and insolvency). He was Chairman of the Board of Directors of OSINERGMIN (the Peruvian energy regulatory agency), and Member of the Collegiate Bodies of OSIPTEL (the Peruvian telecom regulatory agency). He has been Chairman of the International Confederation of Energy Regulators – ICER, and, before of that, was Chairman of the Iberoamerican Energy Regulators Association – ARIAE. Also he has been a Consultant for the Organization of American States. He has been university professor in Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú and Universidad del Pacífico, an also speaker in important events in America, Africa, Asia and Europe.

Mr. Alvarado holds a law degree from the Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru (PUCP) and a Master of Science in Regulation from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). He also took postgraduate studies in Competition and Regulation at Universidad de Valladolid and Mergers, Acquisitions and Merger Control Law at Universidad de Lima, as well as participated in the course regarding public transportation infrastructure provided by the Peruvian regulatory agency (OSITRAN). He was Senior Associate in the department of Competition, Regulation and Intellectual Property from Miranda & Amado Abogados (from 2013 to 2022) and served in the Competition Chamber of INDECOPI as Legal Coordinator (from 2008 to 2013). He was international associate at Gomez-Pinzon Abogados, a Colombian law firm based in Bogota (2017), focusing his practice on intellectual property, competition, and data privacy matters. In the academic field he teaches the Advertising Law course at the Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (UPC) and he has been teaching assistant in Competition Law (Competencia 1), Unfair Competition and Advertising (Competencia 2), and Commercial Law practical course (Seminario de Integracion en Derecho Mercantil) at Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru (PUCP).

Took specialized studies on Compliance at CENTRUM (PUCP). Has developed a large part of her career at the Peruvian Competition Agency (Indecopi), where she used to be Technical Secretary in the Competition Chamber of Indecopi’s Tribunal (2013-2021). Previously, she was Legal Coordinator in the Competition Chamber and Senior Lawyer in the Competition Commission. Mrs. Arellano has been professor of competition law at Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas and Escuela Nacional del Indecopi. Participated in an internship program at the Swiss Competition Agency (Commission de la Concurrence). Likewise, she participated in the Escuela Iberoamericana de la Competencia organized by the Comisión Nacional de la Competencia of Spain (currently, CNMC), as well as in several specialized trainings in competition law held by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), among other international institutions.

She is past President of the Board of Directors of the Peruvian Association of Industrial Property and Copyright-APPI. Member of the Inter-American Association of Industrial Property -ASIPI.
